about
A lot of history’s greatest songs are love songs. I draw my inspiration from life events I’ve encountered, and being I haven’t experienced a lot in life, love songs come the easiest to me. While a good number of love songs are happy and positive, more recently, introspective versions of love songs have been taking over. Love is something that makes you feel euphoric, and it can take you back to a feeling of care free teenage recklessness.
I got the initial idea for this song after listening to the band Veaux. Their song “Wander” is one they repurposed from their days as Medic, and one of my personal favorites. Their lyrics tend to have a more religious tinge to them, which in turn radiate positivity. This song in particular really stuck with me, and I wanted to create a song with the same euphoric feeling. Cure is a song that displays love in a bittersweet fashion, and as an addiction. It is related to alcohol in the song, and states that kicking your addiction to something that is hurting you will ultimately be the “cure” to becoming healthy. While love can be healing, sometimes other feelings are masked as love. Toxic love is something that can hurt someone faster than anything. Being able to identify being caught in a situation like this is something not everyone can do willingly. I wanted to write this song to give hope to people who may find themselves in a situation like this, and let them know they aren’t alone.
